Who we are

Florida Construction Loans is operated by The Built Mortgage Team. Our focus is construction and construction-to-permanent financing — the kind of lending that requires a lender to understand plans, budgets, draw schedules, builder review and as-completed appraisals, not just credit scores and pay stubs.

You can learn more about the broader team and our other lending services at Built-Mortgage.com. This site is the Florida construction-specific side of that work.

Why a dedicated Florida construction site

Construction lending is different from a standard purchase, and Florida is different from most other states. Wind design requirements, flood zones and elevation standards, county-by-county permitting timelines, impact fees, insurance availability, well and septic on rural parcels — these are not footnotes. They change budgets, schedules and sometimes whether a project is feasible at all.

Rather than treat Florida construction as a subsection of a general mortgage site, we built a resource that addresses it directly, with content written for the situations Florida borrowers actually encounter.

How we work

  • Education before application. Most people reach us with questions, not a completed file. That's the right time to talk.
  • Honest feasibility. If a parcel, a budget or a construction method is going to be a problem, we'd rather say so early than after you've spent money.
  • Project-level review. We look at the borrower, the builder and the build — because underwriting will.
  • Straight answers on programs. VA, conventional, one-time close, jumbo and alternative construction each have real trade-offs. We explain them.

Who we help

  • Veterans and service members building a primary residence in Florida
  • Buyers purchasing a lot and building a custom home
  • Landowners ready to build on acreage they already hold
  • Families building barndominiums and alternative-construction homes
  • Buyers of high-value coastal and custom homes requiring jumbo financing

Start with a conversation

The most useful first step is a prequalification discussion that includes the project, not just your finances. Read the construction loan process, review the requirements, and if you already hold a lot, see what building on land you already own can look like. Then get in touch.
